Video - Three Old Men and a Lad cycling from Inverness to Glasgow in 2024

I have no excuses.  Nada.  Oh go on then...  

Sorry for binning the first version.  Copyright issues n other things mean that I have decided to remove all the music and just let you ride along with us with commentary where necessary.  Just imagine you are on a bike with us and enjoy the ride!

Well I've always found something else to do in my retirement, especially at this time of the year.  However I’ve again been buggered with another Retina detachment so in recovery mode right now. Which has meant that the pulling together of the Inverness to Glasgow ride that me, Brad the Lad, London Alan and David the Gentle Giant did in 2024 is now done.  Doing the video editing kept on getting delayed and delayed... and delayed.  Also delayed because I had to learn how to use and edit the fecking gigatons of raw data from the new Insta 360 camera.  What with the hurricane and earthquakes too!  Well... that's just a small part of my crappy excuse...

Doctors orders post the second retina detachment - and so for the last 3 weeks and probably for 3 more weeks to come - mean that I cannot do anything strenuous.  So realistically as a result I have had a lot more time at home.  Indoors.  In front of a computer.  Like being at work again :-(.   So was best to use the time wisely and finish what should have been done last year.  I might even get on with a bit of decorating too.  

Hopefully the post surgery gas bubble in my left eye will be gone in 3 more weeks or so and I'll be given the all clear to get on with doing the other things in this life that don't involve desk work.  Hopefully before I lose this summers riding season all together!

Anyway, here it is.  Inverness to Glasgow cycle ride in 2024. Just over an hour to watch - if you can stand the pain.


Nonetheless, I've enjoyed pulling it all together.  It's a gentle meander through Scotland with 3 old blokes and a lad.  And it's all part of my life plan - to give me something to watch when I finally end up in an old fogeys home - with dementia.  

Finally?  

Yeah, it's already arrived...

It’s 0240 am Zulu and I cannot sleep. Cycling NZ26 - Day 7 - Mozzie Hell!

It’s 0408 zulu. My sleeping bag is full of dead mosquitoes.  Only a short update here to confirm that I am still alive.  Yesterday was start of the Timber trail. An unearthly hard grade of rock strewn washed out trail and logging track. No place for a fat man and his moose of a bike. No real beauty in this place as all I can see for miles and miles is native virgin vegetation all around.  Best laid plans n all that. Well, because I did not know what lay ahead some rearrangement of the bike was needed so that I could fit it out with stores. Cold rations.    A large pack of soft white tortillas, jars of peanut butter and hazelnut and chocolate spread. Cheese triangles and smoked chorizo plus handfuls of chocolate bars. Cycling NZ26 - the 6 Million Dollar Bolt!

It’s 3.36 am Zulu. Local Time.  My name is Jake Sully.  I’ve just awoken from a very deep dreamless sleep. So unlike me except for the very very early rise. There’s a mixture of apprehension and even more apprehension coursing through my body as I lay in bed typing this codswallop into my phoney friend.  The flight to New Zealand was uneventful.
