Took my 'no dad' legs out for a ride today
It's March so there aren't many days like this at the moment. Sunny, cool but not cold, with light winds. When one does appear I'm normally out of the house on two wheels. This morning was a 40 mile run on the motorbike for beans on toast at Seaways cafe. That was prep work (my excuse and a damn good one for a ride out on the motorbike) as I was contemplating another cycle ride in the afternoon and figured I'd stuff a few carbs down my neck first.
The difference between the two bikes is approx 170 BHP. The BMW K1200S has absolutely no problem pushing this particular fat man to the top of any hill. The Koga however relies on what God gave me. A pair of legs that today, after the run to Pickering on Saturday, were making 'no dad' noises. You know how it is when taking a snotty wet limp thing to some [for it] abhorrent destination. A "c'mon ma boy!" triggering a loud "No dad, nooo, dad, no dad, daddy, no daaaad!" and other whines and grumbles until 5 minutes in to it, the noise magically fritters away.
My legs made copious 'no dad' sounds at the start of the ride this afternoon but about 1hr in the grumbles and moans had gone. In fact they started to feel really good. The miles accumulated on the bike perhaps over the previous days really working?
I'm continuing to mess around with the camera and its mounting to the bike. The Koga bag stands proud of the handlebar so finding a suitable extension to hold the camera above the bag is a bit of a faff. Anyway I'm about there now. This short vid is the test with the new plug in microphone, er, plugged in.
I also saw more racing snakes today. Well BST has just landed so they've magically re-appeared from their Mamillian(1) burrows. I've got some words to say about them later..
Legs feel good this morning as I write. 35 miles yesterday out to Sherburn in Elmet and back was, strange for me to say this, enjoyable! Time is ripe to add a few more touring bits and pieces to the bike to make it more like the beast I will be riding on LEJOG.
Keep pushing ma Boy!
